Sewell, NJ-Mercer baseball (20-7) beat RCSJ Gloucester (19-7), the 2nd ranked team in NJCAA DII baseball 11-8 in nine innings. Sophomore Shaniel Maldonado (Trenton, NJ/St. Benedict’s) went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs and sophomore Kevin Stewart (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) had 2 RBIs in the win. Sophomore Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown) was 3 for 4 with a home run, 3 runs and an RBI.
Sophomore Lukas Mullen (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North), Jordan Raba (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Quaran Williams (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) and freshman Josh Hernandez (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) each had an RBI in the win.
Sophomore pitcher Adrian Hernandez (Trenton, NJ/Solebury School) moved to 3-0 on the season striking out three in six innings. Freshman pitcher Jimmy Musser (Chesterfield, NJ/Northern Burlington) threw two scoreless innings of relief for his second save of the season.
Mercer has a quick turnaround as they travel to Brookdale (19-7) for a 3:30 PM game on Wednesday, April 8th.
