Scranton, PA-Mercer baseball (18-7) had a huge day at the plate beating Lackawanna (9-17-1) 28-6 in Game 1 of their doubleheader. Sophomore Shaniel Maldonado (Trenton, NJ/St. Benedict’s) went 3 for 3 with a home run, two doubles and 4 RBIs and sophomore Mike Amrhein (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) was 3 for 3 with a home run and 4 RBIs and 4 runs.
Sophomore Quaran Williams (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) went 3 for 4 with two doubles and 2 RBIs and sophomore John Stewart (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) was 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs.
Sophomore Lukas Mullen (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) had a home run and 5 RBIs and sophomore Jordan Raba (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) was 2 for 3 with a home run, double, 4 runs and 3 RBIs. Freshman Gabe Ahlemeyer (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown North) had a home run and RBI and sophomore Ryan Kochie (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) went 1 for 1 with an RBI.
Sophomore pitcher Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown) had five strikeouts in five innings to move to 4-0 on the season. Sophomore Adrian Jimenez (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) struck out two in two innings of relief. Freshman Joe Andreas (Ewing, NJ/Ewing HS) added an RBI in the win.
